Since I work primarily from photographs, I am able to capture the "heart and soul" you desire and bring it to life in a pastel painting or pencil drawing. 

The first medium I use is pastels. They are basically chalks that come in stick and pencil forms, and the textures can range from hard to very soft. Pastels come in a wide variety of colors and values. The surfaces I use are sandpaper and pastelboard. The sandpaper is a very fine grit (400) archival paper that accepts many layers of color. The pastelboard that I use is ground marble applied to masonite.

The second medium is graphite (pencil). They range from hard to very soft graphite. I use archival 4 ply cotton paper for my drawings. This ensures the lasting quality of my graphite drawings.
